ACGA Captain's 2017 Address - Roger Goddard
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all good golfing and a prosperous new year.
This year the new committee will work to represent and instil the values upon which the ACGA was founded.
It is important to remember that this great association was started by 4 men - Frank Skinner, Tony Johnson, Tony Irish and Daryl Oxley. From their foresight and commitment the ACGA has grown to have a far reaching network of friends, business partners and golf buddies.
The values for the association are clearly set out within our constitution and a few key points are - competitive golf, good golf courses and to tirelessly seek to improve as golfers and people.
The association is in a very healthy position and I/we are very fortunate to have a very capable committee to help us achieve those goals and I’m sure that you will join me in showing your appreciation to those committee members who voluntarily give their time, skills and continued dedication to what can be a very difficult task.
We the committee intend to aspire towards excellence on our golf days. We expect that each member or guest of the ACGA will arrive at an ACGA golf event, safe in the knowledge that it will be properly organised and that everyone will conduct themselves in a respectful and considerate manner. As is the tradition at our events the competition will be fair but fierce, and the banter will be acerbic but with good intentions.
We have some excellent golf venues for the 2017 season and I know that most of you will be looking forward to the challenge ahead. Please remember that guests are welcome to attend any society day, just contact our secretary to provide the details of your guest. Please check the website for the incentives scheme we have put together to encourage increased attendances at our golf days.
The committee has also agreed to contact and re-integrate some of our old members, with this in mind, an open letter of invitation has been sent out to all of the old members who for a variety of reasons have not been able to attend.
I look forward to seeing you all over the golfing season.
