Wellbeing of Women is a registered charity.

England & Wales: 239281. Scotland: SC042856

Wellbeing of Women was formed in 1964 (originally called The Childbirth Research Centre) by obstetrician Professor Will Nixon, who was affected by witnessing the grief of a husband who’s wife had died in childbirth. The founding members had the aim to reduce the number of women and babies who died during pregnancy and childbirth. Some of their early work established a link between folic acid deficiency and malformed babies, and funding crucial research into epidurals which means that millions of women now benefit from a relatively pain-free childbirth experience.

The charity was renamed Birthright in 1984 with Diana, Princess of Wales as the Patron. In 2004 the charity became Wellbeing of Women with its current Patron as Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

The charity has grown over the years, and now carries out vital research to support women throughout their lifetime. From fertility, pregnancy and childbirth, to gynaecological cancers, to conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS and incontinence, the charity aims to find new cures, better treatments and improve the healthcare of all women.

The ACGA are proud to donate to such a worthwhile cause and look forward to many years of contributing to ensuring women’s health receives the investment needed to push for progress in areas too often and too long overlooked.
