2019 Major 4 - Toot Hill Golf Club

Our 4th Major was played at Toot Hill Golf Club (5th July) - a first for the ACGA, on what would be one of the hottest days of the year so far and on some of the slickest greens we’ve played on to date.

The day got off to a sluggish start for our Captain, who decided to party on a school night and turn up late. He was rightly heckled by Members and Guests alike, but he like to extend his thanks to the members of the committee who held the fort. With a large field of some 40+ players, and with Societies in front and behind us, it wasn’t going to be the quickest of rounds. However, in true ACGA fashion we got on with the task at hand and some great golf was played.

As usual, our Ladies section turned up ready for action with Ingrid Clarke proving to be the best of the bunch on 30pts. Tony Johnson took top prize with 41pts, followed by Raf Roberts, Bose Sreedham, Mike Woodstock and Colin Parson all with 36pts on countback. Arran Usmani took the guest prize with 39pts and Bernard McColin took the prize for the most Blobs - 10 in total.

The day was partly spoiled by 2 ACGA vehicles being broken into in the car park. Unfortunately, the culprits were not caught on CCTV but in true ACGA spirit we all rallied round to assist the injured parties.
